A photo of Paul Beard wearing a cowboy hat and a cowboy boot in the midst of his own death in 2011.
His wife and son watched over him as he was buried.
He was also a member of the Grateful Dead, whose guitarist was in the crowd.
The photo is from a 2009 documentary, “The Other Side of the Horn,” about the band.
The band’s guitarist, Phil Lesh, died in 2013.
A couple of months after his death, Beard posted a photo on Instagram of him wearing a white cowboy hat, a pair of cowboy boots, and a hat with a crossbow on it.
Beard said he would be wearing the hat again this weekend at a Grateful Dead concert.
“I’ll be back tomorrow,” he tweeted.
“Thanks for your support.”
The photo garnered more than 1.5 million likes.
He later added a comment on Instagram, saying: “It was the best day of my life and I know that I’ll do it again tomorrow.”
